The goal of Team Bariatric is to provide patients who are severely obese with an effective and successful way to lose weight and also remedy other health problems which are often associated with morbid obesity.

Our team acts as your advocates:

  1. Is Team Bariatric Right for You?
The first step to losing weight is to determine whether our program is the right one for you. Ours is designed for people who are severely overweight or have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or greater. In some cases, you may qualify with a BMI over 35 if you experience co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea or hypertension.

  2. Deciding for Surgery
Once you have had the opportunity to educate yourself more about our team and procedure, and after you have met with the program surgeon, you can decide whether our program is perfect for you. Our Team is available to answer any questions you may have to help you make your decision.

  3. We Help With Insurance Approval
We have experts to work with you and your health insurance company to secure approval for the procedure.

  4. Surgery
The surgery itself takes approximately 1½ - 2 hours depending on the procedure you undergo. Your recovery in the hospital will be approximately 2 or 3 days, again depending on the procedure. During your time in the hospital, you will receive information about the diet you will need to be on while recovering from surgery and the dietary program you will follow after you have recovered from surgery. Weight loss surgery has low complications, low death and low conversion rates.

  5. Recovery
After your hospital stay, your recovery will continue when you return home. Depending on your condition, the procedure you have and the type of work you do, it may take up to six weeks before you are able to return to work after having an open rny and 3-4 weeks after having a lap rny. Your physician will help you make this decision.

  6. Our Support
Post-operatively, we encourage you to make several visits so we can monitor your progress. Our programs offer monthly support group meetings to discuss any issues you may have and to encourage you in your weight loss endeavors. We also provide quarterly newsletters to all our patients.
