- Morbid Obesity
- Body Mass Index, or BMI, of 35% - 40% with
co-morbidities. BMI uses your height and weight values to determine whether you are at
risk for weight-related health problems. The lower your BMI, the lower your risk for health
problems. Co-morbidities for obesity could include hypertension (high blood pressure),
diabetes, sleep apnea, and some others. View more about

- Or 100 pounds overweight.
- Or weight greater than 200% of desirable weight.
- Repeated failure of dietary control or inability to adhere to dietary methods.
- Stable adult life pattern.
- Absence of serious heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease or significant hepatic (liver) or
renal (kidney) function.
- Absence of endocrine (glandular) causes for obesity.
- Willingness of patient to cooperate in follow-up.
- All patients are required to undergo a psych eval prior to surgery.
