You will undergo an extensive medical history work-up to determine whether this operation is indicated and safe in your specific case. The preoperative screening may consist of complete blood tests, imaging studies, and maybe a gastroscopy and consultations with various specialists, as necessary.

Pre-Operative Tests
Below is a list of some of the tests that are performed prior to the surgery:
  • Hycel - evaluates the liver, kidney and many other organ functions
  • Electrolytes - evaluates sodium and potassium levels
  • CBC - Complete blood count
  • UA - Urinalysis
  • T3, T4 - Thyroid analysis
  • EKG - Electrocardiogram - checks the heart
  • Chest X-ray - Evaluates the lungs
If indicated, these tests will also be done:
  • Arterial Blood Gases
  • Screening Pulmonary Function Studies
The Team Bariatric Program takes a comprehensive team approach to caring for you to achieve long-term weight loss and enable you to live a healthier more productive life. Our options are Open Rroux en y, Laparoscopic Roux en y and Lap Band. Our programs strive to exceed the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons (ASBS) Center of Excellence requirements. Both Gastric Bypass and the Lap Band options are available at Grandview.
