Obesity

Several studies show that obesity is a disease, not a disorder of willpower. One pf the most painful aspects of obesity may be the emotional suffering. Many individuals, 100 pounds or more overweight, experience loneliness, shame, rejection, depression, and poor health. At Grandview we can bring hope for a new beginning when someone has tried everything else without success. Weight loss surgery has been endorsed by the National Institutes of Health as the most effective treatment for severe obesity.

Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery is also known as weight loss surgery. The surgery reduces the size of the stomach, and depending on the procedure, shortens the intestine. Both procedures make you feel satisfied sooner, so you are less inclined to overeat.

At Grandview/Southview we offer:
  • Gastric Bypass: Reduces food intake and the amount of food absorbed
  • Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band: Simply reduces food intake

Results of Weight Loss Surgery

Immediately following surgery, most patients lose weight rapidly. The rate of weight loss tends to be faster Gastric Bypass than the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band Results will vary individually, so please consult your physician about weight loss expectations.

Benefits of Bariatric Surgery

Surgery improves most obesity-related conditions: diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, heart disease, and many orthopedic conditions. You can also benefit from an increased life expectancy. Not only do you look better, you feel better.
