What is Bariatric Surgery?
Also known as weight loss surgery, bariatric surgery reduces the size of the stomach, and depending on the procedure, shortens the intestine. The Gastric Bypass procedure reduces food intake and the amount of food absorbed, while the LAP-BAND® System simply reduces food intake. Neither is cosmetic surgery. Because both procedures make your stomach smaller, you feel satisfied sooner, so you are less inclined to overeat.

The Results are Dramatic!
Immediately following surgery, most patients lose weight rapidly. The rate of weight loss tends to be faster with Gastric Bypass than with the LAP-BAND® System. But since individual results vary, we recommend that you consult your surgeon about weight loss expectations.

Are There Other Benefits of Bariatric Surgery?
Yes. Surgery improves most obesity-related conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, heart disease and many orthopedic conditions. As an added benefit, your life expectancy increases. Not only do you look better, you feel better!

Our Weight Loss Medical Team
Our Board-certified surgeons are renowned experts in the field of bariatric surgery. Our supportive team of physicians, administrators, nurses, psychologists and patient counselors are dedicated to your comfort and well-being.

Support Groups at Cassano Clinic
All prospective and post-operative patients are invited to attend our free monthly support groups. Our guest speakers discuss issues that relate to nutrition, exercise, emotional stress, lifestyles and social interaction. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to interact with our patients who have gone through the surgery and ask them questions.

Do You Qualify For Weight Loss (Bariatric) Surgery?
The best way to find out is to call us at (937) 439-4145.

Here are some guidelines to see if you are a candidate for Bariatric Surgery:
  • You must be severely overweight and over 18 year of age.
  • You have repeated failure of dietary control or inability to adhere to dietary methods.
  • You have other medical conditions that are directly related to being overweight.
A patient representative will help determine if you qualify for surgery. After we gather the information we need, a letter will be sent to your insurance company for pre-approval. Once you are approved, you are then scheduled for your weight loss surgery... the first step to the start of a new life!
